A place called Rollendrich

Five and a half thousand years ago, on a ridge in the Cotswold Hills, a burial chamber was dug out from the earth to house and honour the bodies of a clan’s deceased. Above the chamber a monument was constructed, comprising five or six large upright stones topped by a capstone.

On his way back from the 2014 NATO summit at Newport in Wales, Barack Obama made a surprise visit to Stonehenge. The president was helicoptered in to Boscombe Down airbase and then motorcaded to the site, where he was given a guided tour by an English heritage curator.
